GP Medical Centre
Who are we
We are an independently owned South Australian General Practice founded by Adelaide trained doctors who opened the practice to provide and showcase excellence in General Practice care that exceeds the RACGP standards. We achieve this by having systems and processes in place to assist our doctors to provide high quality services in an efficient manner that is accessible to their patients at their time of need. Accessibility relates to having systems that enable contact with your GP for advice on care even when appointments are hard to come by and having a fee structure so the cost does not hamper accessibility to medical services by your clinic.
The focus of our medical centre is the doctor-patient relationship and our services are provided to encourage and assist with this. We provide services and support to help the doctors provide the care so they are fresh and envigorated. The doctors’ focus is solely on patient and patient centered care which they provide in their own individual style.
All doctors are independent and can practise and bill as they wish. Firle medical centre provides facilities for like-minded doctors with similar ethos and principles.
We subsidise services to ensure the best possible care is accessed by the whole community.

Your Specialist General Practitioners
The independent General practitioners at Firle Medical Centre are all fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. It is this body that determines that all General Practitioners are at a standard to practise unsupervised in General Practice.
General Practice is a complex specialty.
All our independent General practitioners are free to practise in their own way. The benefit of being independent and not employed is that non-medical people and other doctors are unable to influence, directly or indirectly, what occurs in the consulting room. It does mean that each doctor has a different style, different expertise, and different philosophies on management. Our independent General practitioners support each other when one is away, however, some requests can only be actioned by your regular GP. Depending on the experience of your doctor, some routinely prescribe medication that others don’t and some have clinical and surgical competencies that others don’t. Some doctors work slower than others, some work faster and some will refer a problem to a specialist whilst others may have the experience to manage the same problem at a specialist level. This reveals the complexity and diversity of General Practice and the more doctors a practice has, the more diversity it has and the more services it can provide for you in one environment with a shared medical record. It is strongly recommended that you develop a relationship with one of our doctors to strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and ensure that Firle Medical Centre continues to meet your expectations.
